I have a website with a web application written in ASP.NET MVC, using the default ASP.NET template. The site is running on IIS 6.0. The site was originally written with ASP.NET MVC 1.0, and has been upgraded to MVC 2.0 and Visual Studio 2008.
I'd like to do server side caching so that my users don't have to make a round trip each time they want to view a page. In particular, I'd like to cache pages for 24 hours.
How can I do this in ASP.NET MVC?
The System.Web.Caching.Cache class in System.Web.Http.dll does this for you, if you are using the default caching provider (which is Redis) that comes with MVC. Check out this blog post, which is where I learned this: http://www.4guysfromrolla.com/articles/081701-1.aspx
you could do it in your application layer by creating your own cache object.
there is a nice example here of the caching in action in ASP.Net MVC 3.
