SP0802N - UNC Errors, won't reallocate under MHDD Page 1 of 1 [ 4 posts ] Previous topic | Next topic AuthorMessagetzok Post subject: SP0802N - UNC Errors, won't reallocate under MHDDPosted: December 6th, 2007, 10:48 Joined: December 12th, 2004, 9:07Posts: 12Location: Bielsko-Biala, PolandI've got a Samsung SpinPoint SP0802N PALO rev.A P/N: 0637 drive, which has some errors. While scanning there's only a few errors and "slow" sectors, but in WinVictoria, when I change from Verify to Read, it takes ages to complete the scan. The drive can be partitioned and formatted, after performing full surface scan there is about 600kB of bad sectors. For some reason SMART does not reallocate them.Code:005 Reallocated sector count: 0196 Reallocate event count: 1842197 Current pending sectors: 0198 Offline scan UNC sectors: 1842Code: Victoria 4.3 Freeware (beta version) log file. 2007-12-0121:22:19 : Starting Victoria 4.3 Freeware (beta version), CPU frequency: 2663,10 MHz, Windows 2000 found.21:22:29 : API access enabled, device #121:22:32 : Get passport... I'm not a hard drive specialist and I haven't got specialized hardware, only a serial terminal and the VTool 5.05.The number of UNC sectors in SMART rises with each scan, for now it's over 2000.I don't care the data on the drive, I only want to make it usable again.Top dobrevjetser Post subject: Re: SP0802N - UNC Errors, won't reallocate under MHDDPosted: December 6th, 2007, 11:23 Joined: December 27th, 2006, 10:15Posts: 1855Location: BelgiumHi Tzok,This drive is for the garbage. One of the heads is gone weak or there is surface damage.Dont use it any more or you could be in need for our services sooner or later Best regards,Dobre_________________Murphy was an optimistDatarecovery in Belgium, Holland, France and GermanyDatarecoverytools Top tzok Post subject: Re: SP0802N - UNC Errors, won't reallocate under MHDDPosted: December 6th, 2007, 18:47 Joined: December 12th, 2004, 9:07Posts: 12Location: Bielsko-Biala, PolandI'm unsure of what I've actually done (most probably using HUTIL), but for some reason I get all SMART parameters to 0, after this, the surface scan still loked the same (or even worse), but I've decided to once again zero-write the drive using WDCLEAR and now it seems to work ok. Before taking eventual decision of reusing it I'll do, of course, some more testing on it to make sure it's reliable.I didn't mentioned about it earlier, but the drive was damagded due to faulty power supply and motherboard (computer hang up and/or restarted itself very often and often during disk i/o operations). It wasn't mine computer, I've only been asked to try to repair it (so I've replaced the PSU, all electrolytic capacitors on the motherboard and the HDD). I've took the faulty pieces - the PSU and HDD to "play with them", and as for now - it seems that I've repaired both Top rameez Post subject: Re: SP0802N - UNC Errors, won't reallocate under MHDDPosted: December 16th, 2007, 9:44 Joined: June 27th, 2006, 11:33Posts: 2332Location: In ur HDD !if u need to repair samsung drives that have bad sectors in them they cannot be remaped by victoria bcz samsung drives dont have Glist so u need to add bad sectors to Alist or Slist i think Vtools have this option , i use pc3k for this purpose .Top Display posts from previous: All posts1 day7 days2 weeks1 month3 months6 months1 year Sort by AuthorPost timeSubject AscendingDescending Page 1 of 1 [ 4 posts ] Main » Forums home » Conventional hard drives 2b1af7f3a8
